While conditions have improved a warning has been issued for snow and ice from Thursday night into Friday morning.
Met Office weather warnings are still in place as up to 99mph winds and snowfall as deep as 30cm cause power cuts, travel disruption and school closures.

Following the declaration of a major incident, Aberdeenshire Council have also confirmed that all schools will be closed tomorrow as a result of the weather. They are the second council so far to close all schools for Wednesday, January 7, after Aberdeen City Council made a similar announcement earlier today.
Many schools will remain closed for a fifth day on Friday as ministers warn the impact of severe weather across northern Scotland will “continue to be felt in the coming days”.
